Welcome

WELCOME

It is my great pleasure to offer each of you a warm welcome to the American School of Milan web site.  As you browse through this site you will find photos of students and facilities, descriptions of programs and the e-mail addresses of various offices that can provide more in depth information.  This site has been created to offer some insight into this very special school.

At ASM we provide programs for students in nursery through grade 12 and focus on completion of the requirements of the ASM High School Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.  These various age and grade level students are taught in age appropriate groups using traditional constructivist methods of instruction.

Our efforts are focused on a rigorous academic program that features small class sizes, talented and dedicated teachers and an extensive extracurricular program that includes music, art, drama, student government, Model United Nations, National Honor Societies in both Middle School and High School and an extensive sports program.

We are located south of Milan just thirty minutes from the city center.  Our campus is gated and features two irrigated soccer fields, two tennis courts, a large gymnasium and a total of eight acres of playing fields.  We provide a full bussing program that includes late busses leaving the school each day at the end of our after school activities.

We feature a fully integrated wireless technology program that requires each student in grades 6 through 12 to use a laptop computer to further their education.  Each of our students is connected and parents can track their educational progress daily through our Powerschool Program.

Our goal is to provide a safe and orderly environment that encourages students to explore their universe through learning.  We are accredited by or members of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, The European Council of International Schools, Mediterranean Association of International Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools and we have been designated an International Baccalaureate World School.

Sincerely,

Alan P. Austen, Ed. D.
